Hey You - Take a Hike! Travel the Pacific Crest Trail (2600 Miles) in Just Three Minutes! (video)

Ever wanted to pack it all up and just take a hike? Maybe your best friend or father/mother/brother/significant other has sparked some wanderlust with their tales from the trail, whether it was the Camino de Santiago or the Appalachian Trail or the Pacific Crest Trail, which traverses 2600 miles from Mexico to Canada. That's what happened to Mac, the guy who recorded the video below. He left behind the 9 to 5 to trek the world but he's made it possible for anyone to join him, and all you need is wifi! He recently recorded one second a day from his hike of the Pacific Crest Trail and put it all together into a 3 minute video. Now you too can take a hike and experience the magic  of walking through the landscapes of the PCT. All without bad weather, bruises or blisters!

The Pacific Crest Trail started as an idea in 1932, was designated as a National Scenic Trail in 1968 and was officially completed in 1993. It cuts through the Sierra Nevada and Cascade Mountain ranges, elevations from sea-level to 13,000 feet, and terrain from desert to forest to virginal mountain terrain. The PCT avoids civilization and hikers who undertake the complete journey - known as "thru-hiking" - are advised to prepare for severe weather and encounters with wildlife. It takes most thru-hikers four to six months to complete the PCT, although the record is 52 or 53 days - depending on who you believe. Cheryl Strayed wrote about her 1995 solo hike in WILD, which Reese Witherspoon made into a movie a few years ago.

Mac, the travel blogger of Halfway Anywhere who created the three minute video below, hiked the trail in 5 months. His website has a ton of great information about the Trail. Check out the stunning scenery in his great video.

So are you ready to hike the PCT?

Let us know if you'll be going and what you'll be taking in your pack!
