6 Frightfully Deep Holes Found Around the World
Halloween is the best time for getting spooked. These real life endlessly deep holes found around the world definitely pump up the level of fear from scary to terrifying!
1. Ice Cube Neutrino Observatory Hole - 1.5 miles deep
As if one long and winding hole wasn't enough, there are 86 of these holes! These holes are used to observe neutrinos in the South Pole using the South Pole Telescope.
2. Dean's Blue Hole in Long Island, Bahamas - 660 feet deep
A blue hole, any large hole that has its entrance below sea level, is usually a few hundred feet deep. This one is 660 feet deep! I get uncomfortable trying to think what dark mysteries may be down there.
3. 2010 Guatemala City Sinkhole - 100 feet deep
This one has a crazy story attached to it. In 2010 this sinkhole suddenly opened in Guatamala City's Zona 2 and brought down a three story building. Who knows what spirits got angry that day!
4. Mount Baldy Sink Hole in Indiana - 11 feet deep
Some of these scary sink holes began to appear near Mount Baldy Sand Dune near Lake Michigan in Indiana. In 2011, a boy got stuck in one, but he was luckily saved after a few hours.
5. Giant Blue Hole in Belize - 407 feet deep
This blue hole may look beautiful but that is not enough to get me to sign up for the scuba diving tours offered in this location. For the brave adventurers who would go in, this hole became famous after Jacques Cousteau said it was one of the top scuba diving locations in the world.
6. Glory Hole at the Monticello Dam in California - 304 feet deep
This is a man-made dam that can drain 48,00 cubic feet of water each second. I dare you to not freak out with this one. Stay away, stay very far away!
All in all, these holes are wonders in this world that I prefer to admire from pictures and pictures only!
